Now really, what could be bigger than a mountain sneaking around? Never seen that before! Wow!
Just in case you were wondering, peak and peek are examples of homophones. That means they are words that sound the same, but are spelled differently and have different meanings. Homophones are taught in grade 2. I should be offering a ‘sneak peek’.
I want to give a friendly correction to any writer making this common mistake, but I can’t because it will be turned back on me with extreme hostility. Apparently criticizing spelling and grammar is worse than name calling.
Don’t get me wrong, I love autocorrect fails and we all make typos, but this particular error is becoming so common that it will soon be noted in the dictionary as an acceptable alternative to ‘sneak peek’.
If I publish an update or post where I’ve obviously gotten it wrong and don’t know any better, please let me know. I’d rather learn so I can not do it again.
Anything been pushing your buttons lately?
Linking up with Jess for IBOT, where I really hope I didn’t just insult someone!
